Why You’ll Love It

Located in Whistler Creekside, Lodging Ovations Evolution offers traditional ski lodging with a modern twist. The accommodation is really well appointed with a huge amount of space; expect contemporary interiors with some really great touches such as underfloor heating in the bathrooms, extremely comfortable mattresses, lots of storage space and a private terrace (great for a glass of wine when the kids have gone to bed!).

We visited during the summer months and stayed in a two-bedroom apartment which offered more than enough room for our family of two adults, two kids and a four-month-old baby. There’s a well stocked kitchen, a washer / dryer (with a starter pack of washing powder provided) and a daily cleaning service. Lodging Ovations also get you started with coffee, tea and washing up liquid.

Across from the hotel is a small shopping centre home to a supermarket, a Starbucks (of course!) and Whistler Kids ski school and nursery. If you were visiting during the ski season then you could not be better placed for being first on the slopes! Personally, I really liked the family-friendly feel of Whistler Creekside compared to the more ‘party’ atmosphere of Whistler Village itself and we’ll definitely be returning to experience Lodging Ovations during the winter months.

Why The Kids Will Love It

My three kids loved their stay here, and not just because they were given three very cute bears upon our arrival. In terms of easy family-friendly accommodation, Lodging Ovations has got it covered. We were provided a cot for our baby and the bigger kids shared one of the enormous King size beds. They all revelled in the equally large bath in their ensuite bathroom, although the bath was so deep that one of us had to climb in to join the youngest!

As travelling families know, being able to have breakfast in your room (rather than rushing to the hotel buffet) makes life so much easier. Having our own kitchen meant that we could stock up on supplies in the Creekside Market and enjoy a handful of meals in our apartment.

Lodging Ovations Evolution also has two swimming pools (one dedicated to families), a cinema room with two daily movie screenings (films are picked on a first come, first serve basis) and a games room with table football and a Nintendo Wii.

There were a lot of families staying when we visited and I can only imagine how many come during the winter months. Hopefully we will be joining them next ski season!

Disclosure: I was offered a complimentary three-night stay at Lodging Ovations Evolution Whistler, however all opinions expressed here are entirely my own and I would happily pay full price to experience Lodging Ovations Evolution again – next time in the snow!

Travel Information

When to go:

The best times to visit Whistler are June through September and December through March. The mountains see peak skiing conditions from December to February, and March brings warmer temperatures but still offers good snow. In June and July, Blackcomb Mountain opens for glacier skiing. During the summer months Whistler acts as a home base for hikers, campers and mountain bikers.

April and May enjoy warmer temperatures ranging from the low 40s to the mid-60s. You can ski through the end of April; the mountains still see snow and the days are warmer and sunny. You should be able to get a good hotel deal during this time. The autumn months bring cooler temperatures between the mid-40s and 50s.

Location & Travel:

Whistler is located in British Columbia, Canada.

It’s an easy, and scenic, two-hour drive from Vancouver to Whistler along the Sea to Sky Highway. Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is served by a large number of airlines with daily flights to and from international and North American cities.

Reviewer’s Top Tips!

1) It’s worth doing a big supermarket shop before arriving in Whistler Creekside. The Creekside Market is well-stocked but you do pay more being in the mountains.
2) Definitely consider Whistler as a summer destination. We spent three days here in July and could easily have spent longer, there is a lot for families to do.
3) Go to Creekbread for dinner (or lunch!) and try one of the delicious flatbread pizzas!
