Why You’ll Love It
This modern Thai hotel is fantastic value for money and we loved our time here. A stay at Alphabeto Resort does, however, require a few caveats. This is not a resort in the Club Med sense of the word so if you’re expecting non-stop kids’ clubs and all-day activities then you’ve come to the wrong place. It’s also not the right hotel for those expecting snappy room service, fluent English-speaking staff and oodles of facilities. If, however, what you’re looking for is a sparkling clean, family-friendly budget hotel then I can highly recommend Alphabeto.
Alphabeto is very sleek with modern rooms, an excellent pool and great (kid-friendly) grassy lawns to run around on. It’s a very popular hotel with Thai families, in fact there were no other foreigners when we stayed here. As such the staff don’t speak much English but they are extremely friendly – and they loved our children!
The location is great, particularly if you have a car, as there are literally dozens of beaches within a 10 minute drive. The hotel itself has little in the way of activities but we spent our days exploring the area and would return in the late afternoon for a swim and a banana pancake or two.
Why The Kids Will Love It
Alphabeto Resort does not have anything in particular to offer kids, it just happens to be a very family-friendly destination – there were lots of Thai families with kids of all ages staying when we visited.
The pool is obviously a hit with children although little kids must be aware that there is no shallow section other than a small platform roughly 6 ft long by 3 ft wide. Make sure to bring arm bands and pool toys as the hotel does not provide any. The grassy lawns are good for running around and there’s a good choice of room sizes for families.
Other family-friendly points are the amazing banana pancakes, sweet shakes and the French bakery across the road that serves a delicious selection of pastries. Nearby Italian restaurant, Da Vinci, has a play area. Not surprisingly, you’ll find most families here come dinner time!
Alphabeto Resort has 22 rooms and 8 villas divide into the following categories: Superior Pool View, Deluxe Pool Access, Suite Pool View and Villa Garden View. All rooms are simple and modern and feature fun wall murals. All rooms come with the following amenities:
- Fridge and minibar
- Safety Box
Superior Pool View: There are seven of these base category rooms, all located on the 2nd floor overlooking the swimming pool.
Deluxe Pool Access: These 14 rooms have direct access to the swimming pool. Nine of them also enjoy an outdoor shower.
Suite Pool View: There is only one Suite Pool View, located on the 2nd floor. This room comes with a living area and kitchenette as well as two private balconies overlooking the pool.
Villa Garden View: There are 8 garden villas and these are our pick of the bunch. Well-appointed with a living area and kitchen, these rooms also come with a microwave and DVD player. They are an excellent choice for families.
Best Rooms For Families: The best rooms for families are definitely the Villa Garden View rooms that come with a lot of space…and they’re such good value for money! It’s worth noting that the main bedroom has AC but the living room only has a fan. The bathrooms are also huge.
Apart from the banana pancakes (which are truly excellent) we didn’t eat at Alphabeto. The one meal that we did enjoy here was not great – I was later told that it was the chef’s day off! There are a lot of dining options nearby, including an excellent French bakery opposite the hotel that we visited daily for coffee and croissants.
Activities for Parents & Kids The hotel offers little in the way of activities for families other than the pool. This is very much a base from which to explore Phuket rather than a destination in itself. We hired a car and spent our days hopping from beach to beach and eating delicious Thai food. Activities in the area include:
- The elephant village
- ATV adventures
- Beach volleyball
- Cycling tour around Naiharn Beach
- Horse riding
- Thai boxing
- Cable ski (water-skiing)
- Jet skiing
- Bungy jumping
A/C, doctor on call, laundry, private sit-out, pushchair-friendly, swimming pool, travel desk, WiFi (complimentary and available throughout the property).
Rooms start from US $50 a night. Rates vary according to room type, extra bed requests and date of travel. Please contact the hotel directly for an exact quote based on your family’s requirements.
When to go:
Phuket is at its best from December to March when daytime temperatures hover around 27C. This is also peak season, however, so expect to pay more for your hotel. The rainy season usually falls from July through to October. Don’t let the rains put you off though, the temperatures are cooler during these months, the beaches are less crowded and you can often get good hotel deals. April and May are the hottest months with temperatures reaching 40C.
Location & Travel:
Alphabeto Resort is only a 10-minute ride from Rawai Beach and Naiharn Beach, 20-minutes from Phuket town in Thailand.
Phuket International Airport is a 50-minute drive from Alphabeto Resort.

Reviewer’s Top Tips!
1) Choose a Garden Villa, there’s lots of space for families.
2) The French Bakery opposite the hotel is excellent for croissants and coffee at any time of day.
3) This is not a resort in a Club Med kind of way, it’s more of a base that you come back to after doing things elsewhere – explore the area by hiring a car!
