What do you usually do with your holiday photos? If, like me, they simply end up taking up valuable space on your hard drive, then this post is for you. I take 1000s of photos every year, both for work and to try and snap family moments. Every year I try to create an annual photo book online, detailing where we’ve been and what we’ve seen during the year, and to chart the kids growing up. But I rarely print any photos.
Recently, however, I was contacted by My-picture.co.uk, an online photo printing service to see if I wanted to try out their products. My-picture offer various services including photo books and calendars, your photos printed on mugs, jigsaws and even towels, and a range of canvas printing services. Given that we’ve recently moved house we have some blank walls to fill, particularly in Alfie’s bedroom, we decided to give their canvas printing service a go.
My-picture offer a variety of wall decoration options including photos printed on wood, photos printed on acrylic glass, photos printed on aluminium and more. We opted for a simple canvas print with a wooden frame and set about choosing a photo. Alfie sat at the computer and went through our travels from the last 18 months trying to work out what he’d like hanging on his bedroom wall. In the end he decided to go for a photo that we took on a GoPro of him jumping into Lake Peten, near the Mayan site of Tikal in Guatemala. It’s one of my favourite photos and evokes some really happy memories so I was secretly happy that he chose this one!
Once you know what photo you want the ordering process on My-Picture is very simple; you upload your photo, choose which product you want and then pick your size. Alfie picked a 80×60 frame that we hoped would be big enough to fill the gap on his wall but not too big that the photo might distort. You then choose what thickness of frame you want, the edge design, the frame colour and then whether you want the photo in colour or in black and white. Make sure that your photo is perfectly centred, add any text you might like and place your order. It really is incredibly simple. We received our canvas within less than a week of placing the order and it arrived by registered delivery.
Now, in the spirit of transparency, I will say that prior to ordering from My-Picture I looked online for some reviews as I’m always curious to know what other customers are saying. Unfortunately, not all the reviews are positive. However, those people that love the service really love the service (and the majority of reviews are positive). Personally, having been through the entire process – from ordering and paying online to hanging the finished product on a wall – I can only say that My-Picture provided a fantastic experience for me and I will definitely use them again.
One of the best reasons to use My-Picture.co.uk is the price. They offer really competitive deals on all their products; the regular price for the 80×60 photo that we ordered is £69.90 but they have what seems like a permanent deal offering the same size canvas print for £35.00. Once you’ve signed up with them, you receive regular deals offering discounts and their products are very good value for money. Even better, the low prices don’t mean poor quality.
In the end, what really mattered was Alfie and what he thought. The good news is that he loves his picture and it really does look great on his bedroom wall. If you’re looking for a way to bring some of your holidays home with you or to simply brighten up a wall, then My-Picture could be a great option.
Disclosure: I received payment for this review but did pay for my own product. All opinions are, as always, entirely my own.
