Where are the best places for luggage storage in London?

We’ve all been there. You arrive in town before you can check in to your hotel and are left sightseeing with suitcases. Or, check out is midday and your plane is not until the evening, so you’re left dragging your luggage around for the final few hours of your trip.

This happened to us recently, which is when I discovered that there are lots of different options for luggage storage in London.

As well as the traditional left luggage offices at major train stations and airports, there are now a number of really handy luggage storage services that operate similar to the apartment booking company AirBnB, but for luggage! Locations including shops, cafes and restaurants, are renting out storage space for visitors that need to stash their suitcases or holdalls for a couple of hours (or more).

This means that you can leave your bags in a secure and convenient location and squeeze in a trip to the British Museum, Big Ben, the London Eye and any other famous landmarks you want to see before it’s time to head home.

There are a number of websites and apps that will help you find places to store your suitcases around London (and other cities).

All you have to do is go online and book a date (it can be the same day) in your chosen location (maps will show you what locations are available) and then you simply drop off your bags. The bag storage locations might be a hotel, a shop or a cafe. Each of these companies has their own luggage storage rules but they generally offer luggage security seals and some kind of insurance.
