Manila weekend escapes with kids: Laiya Beach

Laiya Beach is an easy beach escape from Manila

A Day Trip to Laiya Beach

If you are in need of a beach fix and do not want to fly or go by boat then Laiya Beach is your best option. It’s located on the coast of South Luzon and can be reached by car (you don’t need to take a boat). It’s a three- to four-hour drive from Manila. The beach is clean and tranquil (unlike most of the other resorts in Batangas) and our daughter was happy to play in the sand and splash in the shallow waters.

If you need a longer break then there are several hotels in the area to choose from.

If you want a longer city break then you can stay overnight and there are several hotels to choose from along the beach including Acuatico Beach Resort & Hotel, Virgin Beach Resort San Juan and Blue Coral Beach Resort.

The hotels offer the usual amenities including spa, restaurants and kiddie parks. We were happy to take it easy while our daughter dug in the sand, played in the park and made friends with the other children staying at the resort. The combination of sand, bucket, spade and water never fails to amuse. If you are travelling with teenagers chose a resort with some activities, as they may need more to entertain them than sand castles. The freedom the beach offers is a great respite from the city as the kids were able to run along the deserted beach keeping within eyeshot.
